Testimony halts in Daniel T. Tighe double murder trial

Akron — The mitigation phase of the court case for convicted murderer Daniel T. Tighe is on a break after testimony from a witness revealed new information Monday that might indicate Daniel Tighe has been suffering from a psychological condition.

After a full day of testimony from witnesses called by the defense during the first day of the mitigation phase, Summit County Court of Common Pleas Judge Lynn Callahan paused the testimony around 5 p.m. so that prosecutors could review information a clinical psychologist was testifying about. Daniel Tighe’s defense attorneys called Dr. James Karpawich as an expert witness in the field of forensic psychology.
