Summit County judge appoints Cuyahoga County prosecutors in Akron quadruple murder case
AKRON, Ohio — Summit County prosecutors officially withdrew from the case of a man charged in a quadruple murder in Akron.
Special prosecutors will now examine whether to seek the death penalty against Deshanon Haywood, 23, who was convicted of capital murder in October for his role in the slaying of four people at a Kimlyn Circle apartment.
Judge Paul Gallagher vacated the conviction in October amid allegations of prosecutorial misconduct. Gallagher on Wednesday appointed Cuyahoga County Prosecutors Brian Radigan and Mahmoud S. Awadallah who will now try Haywood’s case.
